Cutteslowe Park

Date: Friday 27th July

Time: 12.30pm-4.30pm

Venue: Harbord Road, Kidlington, Oxfordshire, OX2 8NP

Suitable ages: All

Cost £2.50 per child

There’s something for everyone to do on this Playday:

  • orienteering with the 18 control course (maps available at the kiosk/office)
  • use the three children’s play areas. 2 are on the Cutteslowe side and 1 on the Sunnymead side
  • play football or cricket on the grass pitches
  • play informal football or basketball in the street sports site
  • grab a bat and play table tennis on one of three tables
  • watch the ducks in the duck pond or the birds in our aviary
  • have a game of Beach Volleyball
  • play a round of miniature golf on the new course (hire clubs at the kiosk)
  • skate the concrete skate park with ramps and grind rail
  • have a game of tennis on the outdoor tennis courts (book at the kiosk)
  • grab a drink or a bite to eat at San Remo’s cafe
  • climb the tree trunks
  • Splash ‘n’ Play will open, with lots of interactive water play, jets and water ways it has something for everyone to enjoy

We have hired the pavilion so we have a base for the day and will supply drinks and snack. Don’t forget to bring your picnics and enjoy a lovely day.

Beale Park

Date: Wednesday 1st August

Time: 10am-5pm

Beale Park Wildlife Park and Gardens offer lots of space and a fun day out for all. In addition to seeing the animals, there are lots of play areas, a train and paddling pools for everyone to enjoy. To see what Beale Park has to offer visit www.bealepark.co.uk

MIELE Cooking Sessions

Date: Monday 6th & 20th August

Time: 10am-12pm or 1pm-3pm

Venue: MIELE, Fairacres, Marcham Road, Abingdon OX14 1TW

Suitable ages: 5+

Cost £2.50 per child

We are very pleased to be running 2 cooking sessions at the Miele kitchens (run by Family Learning Services). The tutor will make something with a savoury and sweet item that can be eaten together or taken home if preferred (menu items will be confirmed once places have been allocated).

Places are limited and parents are expected to supervise their children at all times due to the hot ovens and sharp utensils. You can park at the front of the building and once in reception you will be shown to the room.

Karting

Date: Wednesday 8th August

Time: 11am-2pm

Venue: Oxford Karting Ltd, Oxford Stadium, Sandy Lane, Cowley, Oxford OX4 6LJ

Suitable ages: Minimum age for petrol karts 8yrs and 140cm tall. Minimum age for electric karts 4yrs.

Cost per child petrol karts: £10
Cost per child electric karts: £5

After a safety brief on arrival, the children will do tester laps to arrange drivers in suitable groups. Each group (total of 4 groups) will have 5-6 children and will get to race on the track.

The younger children will be driving inside an inflatable barrier/track. The karts are electrically powered and extremely safe.

Please note: Racers (petrol) must wear helmets and overalls and there will be some waiting around whilst other groups have their turn.

(Adults may not be able to take part in this playday due to numbers)

Snakes & Ladders

Date: Friday 10th August

Time: 6pm-8pm

Cost £5 per child

Bursting with indoor play activities, Snakes and Ladders is fun for children of all ages and is so much more than just soft play. Children can explore the huge playframe, there’s imagination play, slides, tunnels, ball ponds, rope climbs and more. Those aged less than 5 years have their own special dedicated zone. Food and drink will be provided for all attending children.

Henley River & Rowing Museum

Date: Tuesday 14th August

Time: 10am-1.30pm

Venue: The River and Rowing Museum is situated on Mill Meadows, Henley on Thames, Oxon, RG9 1BF

Cost £5.00 per child

Another popular playday for OASIS members, the day at Henley River and Rowing Museum includes a hands on workshop theme of peter rabbit  and a chance to explore the museum. After a picnic lunch, you will then head out on to the Thames for a boat ride.

Please note that although the museum is wheelchair accessible, buggies and wheelchairs are not allowed on the boat.

Swimming

Date: Saturday 18th August

Time: 2pm-4pm

Venue: Leys Pools and Leisure Centre, Pegasus Rd, Oxford, OX4 6JL

Suitable ages: All (8+ for inflatable)

Cost £5.00 per child

Enjoy and hour at Blackbird Leys swimming pool.  There will be giant inflatables obstacle course in the deep end of the pool – depth set at 2m. This will be for children 8+ who can swim a 25m length and will be asked on the day to do so to ensure their safety. There is also a shallow end – depth set at 1 meter and the learner pool which is slightly warmer where children can enjoy a swim or play with floats, noodles and balls. The pool is 100% wheelchair accessible.

Cakes and drinks will be available in the small hall after and there is also a cafe on site.

Parents/carers are responsible for their children at all times.  Children over the age of 8 can go into the pool unsupervised.  There is a spectator area where adults can watch their children.

Snow Tubing, Ice Skating & Skiing

Date: Wednesday 22nd August

Time: 10.30am-1.30pm

Venue: John Nike Leisuresport Complex, John Nike Way, Bracknell, Berkshire RG12 8TN

Suitable ages: Minimum age 4

Cost: £8.50 per child

Each activity will last about an hour with a with a short in between for change over and lunch, there is a café on the site or you could bring your own packed lunch .

  • Sno-tubes is a fast inflatable fun with no skill required! You simply walk up the slope with your tube, sit in the tube and enjoy the ride back down!
  • Skiing: Become familiar with the ski equipment, Progression to walking and sliding down a slope
  • Ice skating: Fun Skate Aids are available to make your experience more enjoyable, there is the option to of a seal, penguin or polar bear depending on your child’s height

All sessions are run by an experienced member of staff.

SOAP

OASIS Camping

Date: Sunday 26th – Monday 27th August

Venue: South Oxford Adventure Playground (SOAP), Whitehouse Road, Grandpont, OX1 4PA

Suitable ages: All

Cost: £5.00 per person

An opportunity to camp out in relaxed & secure surroundings. SOAP is also closed to the public during our stay.

We have access to all the facilities at SOAP as well as:

  • Disco dome
  • Toasting marshmallows
  • Movies
  • Dinner/breakfast will be provided
  • Bubbles
  • Glow sticks
  • Indoor arts and crafts

Please note you will need to supply your own tents and camping equipment.

Shilton

Date: Wednesday 29th August

Time: 10.30am-2.30pm

Venue: Shilton Village Hall, opposite the church. Shilton is just outside Burford in West Oxfordshire. OX18 4AD

Suitable ages: All

Cost: £2.50 per child

OASIS are back to Shilton for their popular annual summer playday. Organised by an Oasis member, the day starts with arts and crafts activities in the village hall (with coffee and biscuits for the adults). We then head off to the village ford (big shallow pond) for a picnic lunch followed by a bit of wading and fish netting. It’s a packed family day out but also very relaxed. Children can take part in the elements that work for them or choose to sit parts out.
